FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The GO Virginia Region 6 Council and GO Virginia State Board reviewed and awarded Germanna Community College $634,938 in GO Virginia funding in support of a $1,032,938 Tech Talent Pipeline Project to train over 200 students entering “high-demand” engineering, information technology (IT), computer science and cyber-related professions in the Fredericksburg region.
GO Virginia Region 6 will be accepting Initial Project Review Forms for regional Implementation Projects and Statewide Competitive Projects until COB August 14th.
The Region 6 Council has been working diligently to assist in COVID-19 response. The Council has shortened application timelines, engaged community leaders, and held discussions around ways to utilize GO Virginia funding to combat the economic effects of COVID-19.
GO Virginia Region 6 has COVID-19 specific funding to be used to within the region to assist the Virginia economy in COVID-19 relief efforts. GO Virginia Region 6 encompasses PDCs 16, 17, and 18.
GO Virginia Region 6 is seeking applications that will:
- Help the region build capacity to support and serve existing businesses;
- Serve and expand priority traded sectors;
- Serve and expanded essential businesses, including the healthcare system and its supply chain;
- Sustain business operations through telework and other technology;
- Expand Broadband opportunities;
- Create systems to put workers back to work quickly within the new environment.

GO Virginia Region 6 Council Approves COVID-19 Relief Funds For New Seafood and Agriculture E-Marketplace Development
GLOUCESTER, VA – The GO Virginia Region 6 Council reviewed and awarded the Middle Peninsula Chesapeake Bay Public Access Authority $77,000 in GO Virginia Economic Resilience and Recovery Program (ERR) Fast Access funding to customize the FishLine application for the Chesapeake Bay, host the application, complete website development for online purchasing, marketing the new app, and general project administration.
