We are currently looking for well-qualified, energetic, and community-oriented individuals to fill positions in our organization. The George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC) is the designated Planning District Commission (PDC) for more than 376,000 people in the City of Fredericksburg as well as the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford. GWRC provides a broad array of planning and support services including regional economic development, environmental planning, support for individuals experiencing homelessness, rideshare matching for commuters, vanpool support, and regional special project coordination. It also provides staff to its sister boards including the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO), GO Virginia Region 6, and the Continuum of Care.
GO Virginia Program Director
GWRC is seeking a Program Director to provide professional support to the Mary Ball Washington Regional Council (GO Virginia Region 6) and ensure the George Washington Regional Commission fulfills its duties as the GO Virginia Region 6 Support Organization and Fiscal Agent. The director’s key functions will be facilitation and communication roles that will develop a robust project pipeline for the region. As a facilitator, the director will help manage and provide assistance with GO Virginia funding and initiatives benefiting GO Virginia Region 6. As a communicator, the director’s role will be to engage, educate and champion stakeholders who represent area businesses and entrepreneurs, localities, education, nonprofits, and private foundations. The selected individual will support the objectives of the GO VA Region 6 Council for regional collaboration fostering high wage job creation in priority industry sectors. The selected individual will lead policy and program guideline development. The selected individual will manage and direct program implementation, manage overall program performance and reporting, and track performance metrics and program impact to ensure the maximal use of resources in community and regional economic development priority initiatives.
The successful candidate will hold at least a bachelor’s degree, with three to five years of experience and knowledge of economic development and/or business preferred. Specific qualities we are looking for include excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, an outgoing personality, excellent communication skills, and a creative and flexible mindset.
