$1,227,449.30 of Virginia Growth and Opportunity Funds Awarded for Two Workforce Development Projects in GO Virginia Region 6

The GO Virginia Region 6 Council announced $1,227,449.30 of funding for two workforce development projects that focus on enhancing career pathways region’s K-12 institutions and expanding work-based learning opportunities for secondary and post-secondary students. The ultimate goal of each project is to further bridge the gap between education and the private sector by addressing the needs of area employers. The projects are led by Stafford County Public Schools and the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce and will be implemented over the course of the next few years.

Germanna Community College hosts 250 children in a summer STEM camp

Germanna Community College hosted a week-long summer camp for 250 kids ages 7-14 in partnership with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office as part of their Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Summer Camp series to introduce kids to the engineering process through various STEM activities.

GO Virginia Region 6 Approves $215,000 in funding to Stafford County to support Entrepreneurial efforts in the region

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The GO Virginia Region 6 Council and GO Virginia State Board reviewed and awarded Stafford County $215,000 in GO Virginia funding to expand entrepreneurial programs in the Rappahannock Region.

Stafford County Economic Development Authority (EDA), in partnership with King George County and the City of Fredericksburg, will work with the Center for Innovative Technology to expand entrepreneurial programs in the Rappahannock Region. Programs will also support the technology-based Virginia Smart Community Testbed in Stafford and provide entrepreneurs with access to the first Virginia Regional Internet of Things (RIoT) Accelerator Program (VA-RAP) and additional community-focused programming.
